A-Level Results 2017
Commonweal Sixth Form students and staff are celebrating an excellent set of A-Level results which build upon the outstanding results from last year. The results demonstrate that the Sixth Form has been successful in achieving its goals of helping students to gain high levels of academic qualification and progress onwards to further academic studies. Students have responded to the high standards of teaching with enormous commitment and hard work and this is reflected in these results.
Levels of progress were outstanding with 75% of A-Level grades achieved expected to be in line with, or better than, expected national progress and 55% of grades in line with the top 25% of results nationally. These figures are especially impressive given the Sixth Form’s open access policy, the high percentage of students completing their two year courses and the current challenges faced by all post-16 providers in the face of national A-Level reform.
Bob Linnegar, Headteacher, said, “We are very proud of all of our students; their hard work and commitment is reflected in this very pleasing set of results. In addition, they are testament to the excellent standard of teaching and support provided to all students across two very challenging years of study.” The goal of Commonweal Sixth has always been to provide the highest standards of education at 16-18 and make a significant contribution to increasing the number of students from the Swindon area progressing into higher education – once again these results represent a significant step towards those goals with another increase in the number of students successfully gaining places on good quality university courses.
Our Year 13 students now leave us for the next exciting chapter in their lives and we wish them the very best. Our Year 12 students have already laid very solid foundations to ensure that they achieve their goals this time next year. As always, our commitment remains to work with a very broad range of students to ensure that they are able to achieve above and beyond their own expectations. We would like to thank all parents and carers for their support during the challenging two years of A Level and BTEC study.
